Isla, tomorrow you will be ONE

To my most beautiful Poddy wiggle, in less than 12 hours you will be a whole one years old, this is totally shocking in some ways as it truely feels like you were just born a minute ago.  Your first year on earth has been a magnificent one. You have grown and reached all your milestones faster than expected, you just have to walk.  Lena has been encouraging this milestone by making you push your cart around the house and up and down the long passage.  You can now also, point to your tummy on request, your nose, my nose and you put both little chubby hands over your eyes when I ask you to show me where your head is.  You kiss us too, when we bug you for kisses, you adore your daddy and kiss him the most, you also do this very funny frown thing when I talk sternly to you about staying seated in your high chair.  You hair is getting longer and you seem to have many soft curls that bounce all over your head.  You love foot wear, and hold your feet out for socks and on occasion for shoes too.  You dont let me put clips or bows in your hair and you tug at bibs and necklaces, but you love the hair dryer and come and sit beside me when Im straightening my hair in hope that I flick the dryer over your little head.  Gioia simply adores you and tries on every occasion to hold your hand or kiss your face, you tolerate the attention only about 21% of the time. Oh boy, can you eat, anything and everything.  You have a wonderful appetite for tasty food and life it would seem.  You are now off the breast and enjoy the warm bottles of nido we give you.  Gioia and I have just finished wrapping your birthday gifts in pretty flowery paper and Gioia has hidden the items in her cupboard till the morning.  We are so excited to share in this moment with you as you fill our lives with so much love I cant even put into words for you to read.  Your little face as you peer over your cot in the mornings is perfect and fair and your shiny blue eyes are always happy and enquiring.  Daddy calls you Dora as you explore all day long, in here, out there, up here, opening this, closing that.  You are a beautiful perfect human being with a wonderful nature and temprement and I cannot wait to see what the next year brings, I can only forsee more wonderful moments, much hearty laughter and memories that will keep me company when you are big and off somewhere on your own, conquering the world and shining for Jesus.  Happy Birthday my precious girl.  I love you so much my hearts sometimes feels like its going to either implode or explode, I can never be sure.  God gave you to us and we will raise you the best way we know how and we will give you a life full of adventure, stories, memories and hope. You will know exactly who you are and how much we love you and that you can do anything and be the best.
I love you

WARNING: A barbie's hair cannot be blow waved

Gioia spent Saturday morning grooming her newish princess barbie.  Mind you I dont think she is the real deal.  She did cost more than a two-for-one cindy doll.  Bean bathed her and washed and conditioned her lovely lady locks.  I then set up the hair dryer for her in her room. Ten minutes later I came in to supervise on the makeover.  Boy, was it an extreme one.  Most of her combable hair had melted into a solid lump on the one side of her teeny pink head.  Gioia thought some more conditioner would do the trick but I knew better.  I suggested she pretend to be that hair cut lady and with her penguin pair of scissors relieve the doll of her once bum-length coif.  At first Gioia had a real problem doing this as she knows it won't grow back, but with just enough encouragement and prompting she zapped it off.  Doll looks like she survived zeclon B.

Plastic bags can have many purposes

I think you need to weigh under 20kg for this game to work.  Gioia learnt this at school, climb into a plastic bag and jump, and race, and win.

Big and Small (super smiley)...Gioia

Fluffy can draw

Isla is neither left nor right, she is both, she is amazing, at drawing on large objects like the garage doors.

To infinity...and beyond

Here is Beanie, practising to cross her midline by drawing and infinity curve over and over and then onto the wall, {sigh}!

Glorious glass

We have so much glass in the house.  I can't throw away Isla's purity bottles, I will however have to recycle them all at some point.  I did a bit of sprucing up and sprayed a lace effect onto a drinking bottle and I tried my hand at 'baking in a jar'! It works, see the rainbow cake.
