The meeting of sisters - a perfect moment in time

This precise moment, when Gioia set her blue eyes on Isla, will stay deep in my heart and my mind forever as it was a flawless three minutes that had the hand of the Lord over it one hundred percent.  Gioia responded to the meeting like she was reading her lines off a Hollywood script.  Words of delight, love and encouragement just poured out of her mouth and a bond was formed before my eyes.

3 day hospital stay

I had a very easy hospital stay at Kloof.  Infact I equate the experience to a mid week getaway at a local spa. New little Isla turned bright canary yellow on day two, so she spent most of our stay under the lights, working on a caribean tan.  I floated back and forth between bed number 15 and the nursery and subsequently became well aquainted with the hospital staff, especially the night nurses.  Bonding with strangers at two in morning is easier than one would think, so much so that when it was time to leave, Friday, I felt a subtle wave of gloom brush over me.

My dark haired baby girl

Finally, meeting my new little girl...she was whisked away for a spot of oxygen therapy after her birth.  I was happy to to see her go as she resembled a smurf, and as you can see below I shed a tear or two at the sight of the now pink baby.
A glorious moment

Life PB (post bump)

I had this idea, while I was still very pregnant, to blog about five or so uses for the bump.  As time wore on I did discover actual uses for my very convex body shape: 1. imprompt mouse pad  for when I found myself lying on the couch, but needing to email or design 2. food, beverage and oil catcher, or whatever didn't make it successfully into my mouth  3. launch pad for Gioia's bath toys 4. shading for my knees and toes on very sunny Pretoria afternoons and 5. Bikini view blocker...if you cant see it, it doesnt need to be waxed...that's my moto at least.

Since thinking about this post, I of course have had a fabulous c-section and Isla no longer calls my uterus her home.  It has been a week since her delivery and the oven in which my little bun baked is still very much convex and, sadly, I can still exploit my figure in all the ways mentioned above.

Teaching the pocket  rocket how to kick and catch...an essential for every girlie.

Killing time

We spent the last weekend together as family of 3 in our home and garden.  The most perfect way to enjoy each other.

Gioia's very first Circus experience

The Mclaren Circus had us sitting in the front row of their show, 3pm Sunday afternoon.  What a 'jol'! I loaded all the cirucs munchies that money can buy onto Gioia's petite lap and she successfully had her pert mouth stuffed with popcorn, candy floss and creme soda.  They had white lions, who did nothing they were told too. They had little dogs that did almost everything they were told to and they had little 'midget' clowns that played tricks on each other and the audience, much to Bean's disgust.  It would seem she has a very fine conscious and she disaproves of little tricks that involve someone getting ''hurt'. I had to medicate her this morning with 5ml's of anti- histamine as her chest seemed tight and her nose runny from what could only have been all the dust we inhaled as the performers danced, waved and contorted their bodies into unthinkable positions.
