Music makes up such a big part of our day. From the car radio en route to swimming or jingle jangle, to the DSTV music channel on the TV. At all times we are living side by side with the rhythm and beats that fill the airwaves. Gioia can turn on the CD player in the TV room and press play whenever she wants to hear 'Poly put the kettle on', track one of her nursery rhyme CD. When the music is particularly catchy or the tune familiar she now tells me from her car seat in the back to make it louder. I turn up the volume and watch her bob her head from side to side. 'Dance mommy dance' follows shortly after, and I abide by her wishes and throw my arms up and wave them all about, ignoring the gaping stares from passing drivers and pedestrians. She copies my dance moves and together we 'break it down' as we drive along. Tonight, for the first time, my dad and I watched on as she sang along to every single track on her CD. She had actions to match the lyrics and dance jigs to fill the gaps. We both looked on in amazement and she performed her heart out, every now and then stopping to fetch a prop, or to lose an item of clothing. By the time the CD finished she was dancing in her birthday suit, ready for her bath.

This make me laugh so much. All that music we played for her while she was still in your belly and the daily dose of the " Beach Boys " during her bath times has obviously laid a good foundation. LOL . I will never forget on one of my recent leave rotations when you played some music for her and she started twirling and waving her little ribbon and dancing all over the lounge for me. And then there is the favourite '' clean up '' song from Barney the Dinosaur. When the song starts she just jumps up, run towards the toys and start packing them away. Loved it so much.
Hey Gioia Daddy, Thank you for your comments! Yes your spot on! we did cover our bases when it comes to exposing her to music, I forgot about the Beach Boys during bath time...I played that for us more so than for her, as it calmed my nerves because she was so little and I was nervous we would freeze her again...Man we have made some fantastic memories! She still jumps for the clean up song. She sings it to me too...
