Fridays, the sneakiest day of the week. One spends ones whole school and working career wishing it was Friday, but it never seems to get there fast enough. Being a 'grass widow' of sorts has changed this aspect of my life. I loathe that sneaky day now. Friday afternoons especially. The week flies by and then POP and its weekend again, YUK! I sense Gioia feels the same, as Friday afternoons she gives me a hard time. Taking her shopping down the road appeases her slightly. For these outings I dont have to do hair and make-up, and I travel incognito in my leisure wear and sunnies. I would of course prefer just to role up into the foetal position and close my eyes till Monday, but do you think that is at all possible with a monkey that has a growing grasp of the English language? 'Off the couch Mommy', and 'Out of bed Mommy' and my favourite 'read da book read da book'! This is what my weekends have come to, my two year old bossing me about and practising her Commanding Officer voice on me. One particular sentence does however make me jump to attention, 'NEED TO POO NOW', this is of course followed by 'BRING THE BOOK'. The last request punctuated by the politest little fairty fart.

This will soon become an independent thing - trust me. I’m no longer needed near the bathroom area, but I still watch without her knowing, just to see what she's up to. So, the other day she bumped her head when bending over to wipe her bum, and then came the tears. She goes for her wee's on her own, but she still needs intervention, for she gets her order of clothing wrong - first the pants, then the panties (sometimes both legs in one hole). We have had a huge argument over toilet paper, because she believes she has to take like half the roll for one bathroom event. Over the weekend, she yelled from her potty that there's a spider that wants to bite her bum. Rushing over there, I found that she just needed some company, for her imagination got the better of her! And I loved it. I hate this whole independence thing - I want her to remain my little baby FOREVER. So, when I am called over to assist, I gladly obey!
